emy kangaroo
& platypus
compressed
into two:
momma & babe
caught in monday
morn's early
light
light filtered
by dusty screen
& glass jalousies
light it is they bring
dark they shatter
they're my
anchors wings
bells trumpets
where else
where else
can i wake
to a sight
more empowering
& inspiring
than my two kookaburras
clasped in
sleep's embrace?
